Coaching

Learn about sailing from your boat or from S/V Happy Place. We’ve coached complete beginners looking to start sailing, veteran sailors who are moving from cruising to racing, new boat owners who are moving aboard and starting cruising.

A special focus is couples as they learn to sail together effectively.

Sailing Skills Sessions

We work with sailors looking to learn and improve specific skills. Some of the sessions are:

  • Docking and anchoring

  • Maintenance and winterizing

  • Passage planning

  • Sail trim

Deliveries

Congratulations! You’ve just bought a new boat … or want to move your boat to a new cruising ground. Let us get it there for you. You can come with us or let us do it for you. We will handle everything from group transport, provisioning, routing and docking. And along the way we will keep in constant contact, so you know your boat is in great hands.

Offshore, near shore, local. We will deliver your boat.

Sea Trials and Check Ride Certification

You’ve found your new boat, have a survey scheduled and need a sea trial? We can help! We work with brokers and purchasers to make sure the day goes smoothly, and you get to really see how your new boat performs.

How about insurance requirements? Many insurance companies ask that you spend time training with a licensed captain before they will allow you to insure a boat 10 feet or greater in length than your previous boat. We work with you and your insurance to get you trained and our on the water - and insured.

Need help passage planning? Preparing and outfitting your boat? Moving to a new slip and need help working out how best to put your boat into her slip?

We can help you. We’ve helped plan a trip for a family going offshore for the first time. We’ve been shore support for a couple exploring the east coast. And done “dock in a box” packages for countless boat owners looking to upgrade their docklines and fenders.
